ABOUT THE ARTIST

My name is Robert Ouellette, and I am 27 years old. I was born with Cerebral Palsy, which affects different parts of my body. I use a wheelchair for mobility and a speech-generating device (SGD) for my voice. I access my SGD using the yellow single switch placed at the left side of my head (as shown in the photo). I have extensive medical needs, but this does not stop me from pursuing my dreams. I am very determined. If I can do it on my own, this is how I want to do it. I use a plethora of assistive technology to help me adapt to my environment and be independent, and I am grateful for innovation.

Some of my interests are photography and printing on garments. I had to figure out a way to pursue these interests' using technology. See my blog posts to find out how.

I want to bring awareness to challenges of accessibility which in turn affects inclusion.  We need to strike down barriers so everyone can live their best life; after all, it is a fundamental human right.

Come back often to check out my next blog posts for my accessibility campaign and photos taken from My View From the Lens.
